Screen replacement

Full display assembly replacement for the 5.5 inch Full HD screen with True Tone colour temperature adjustment. We transfer the original home button (paired to the logic board for Touch ID and haptic feedback), recalibrate True Tone data where possible, and reseal the IP67 adhesive. Every screen is tested for 3D Touch pressure sensitivity, colour accuracy, and touch response across the full display.

Battery replacement

The iPhone 8 Plus has a 2691 mAh battery. That was smaller than the 2900 mAh cell in the iPhone 7 Plus because the glass back, wireless charging coil, and updated internals left less room. After years of daily charging, capacity drops noticeably. We fit a fresh cell, test it under load, verify that wireless charging still works, and reseal the display adhesive.

Charging port repair

The Lightning dock flex cable on the 8 Plus includes the primary microphone, barometric vent, and antenna connections. If wired charging is unreliable, data sync fails, or callers cannot hear you on the other end, this part needs replacing. We test all functions on the new assembly before handing back.

Camera Repair

The 8 Plus has a dual 12MP rear camera: a wide angle lens with OIS (f/1.8) and a telephoto lens (f/2.8) with 2x optical zoom, Portrait Mode, and Portrait Lighting. The 7MP front camera also supports Portrait Mode. We replace the faulty module and test autofocus, zoom switching, Portrait Lighting effects, and 4K video recording at 60fps.

Back Glass Repair

The 8 Plus has glass on the front and back, both of which can crack from a single drop. We remove the bonded rear glass, check the wireless charging coil underneath, fit new glass, and test Qi wireless charging. The back glass repair is more involved than a screen replacement because of the adhesive strength and the components sitting beneath it.

Network unlocking

If your iPhone 8 Plus is locked to a specific carrier, we can unlock it so you can use any SIM card from any network. Useful if you have switched providers, bought a second hand phone that is still locked, or need a local SIM for travelling abroad.

Is It Worth Repairing an iPhone 8 Plus in 2026?

The iPhone 8 Plus is one of the older iPhones that still holds up well for daily use. It runs iOS 16.7.16, patched by Apple as recently as May 2026 with security fixes. That puts it a full major version ahead of the iPhone 7 Plus (stuck on iOS 15) and means broader app compatibility.

The 3GB of RAM and A11 Bionic chip keep things moving. WhatsApp, YouTube, Spotify, Safari, and most banking apps run without problems on iOS 16. Some apps have started requiring iOS 17 or later, but the majority of mainstream apps still support iOS 16.

The 5.5 inch Full HD screen is still comfortable for video, reading, and browsing. Wireless charging and fast charging over USB PD mean the phone supports modern charging habits. Portrait Mode and Portrait Lighting on the dual camera are features that budget phones in 2026 still struggle to match.

Apple classified the iPhone 8 Plus as Vintage in March 2025. Apple Stores may no longer repair it. We still do, at all 14 stores.

How Long Does an iPhone 8 Plus Repair Take?

Most iPhone 8 Plus repairs take 30 to 45 minutes. The 5.5 inch display takes slightly longer to fit and reseal than the 4.7 inch iPhone 8 screen.

Battery swaps are the quickest job on this model. Screen replacements take a bit longer because of the home button transfer, True Tone calibration, and IP67 adhesive resealing.

Back glass repairs are the longest. The rear glass on the 8 Plus covers a larger area than the standard iPhone 8 and is bonded with the same strong adhesive. The wireless charging coil, camera lens ring, and flash module all sit beneath it. Allow 45 minutes to an hour.

Dual camera repairs are straightforward unless both modules need replacing.

You can wait in store or drop your phone off and collect later. All 14 stores are open Monday to Saturday 9am to 6pm and Sunday 10am to 5pm.

Took my phone here around 2 in the afternoon, the screen was smashed and it was completely unusable. Picked it up again at 2.45, fully repaired, guy couldn't be friendlier and showed me why my phone was so expensive to repair, (almost half the phone needed changing, thanks samsung for your well designed part). And although the price was expensive it was still very reasonable compared to elsewhere. Will definitely go to this shop again if i need my phone fixing again and will be recommending to everyone

I had an unfortunate accident, I dropped my iPhone and cracked the screen. I immediately worried about the cost of a repair. I rang several phone shops who wanted £100 for a repair. I then found The Phone Village on Scunthorpe High Street the me £50. I took my phone in and the guys were great I was told it would take 30 mins. On my return the repair had been expertly done. They fitted a free screen protector and case ( yes free of charge). Absolutely fantastic service. I would recommend them to anyone in my situation.

Today I went into Phone village for the first time with a chap I support who is a technology enthusiast and collector. We were greeted by two kind workers and my chap explained he likes to collect old phones and technology which don't necessarily need to be working he just likes to collect and compare them with modern devices. The workers listened closely and attentively and went and got a load of phones for him to look through. They were really impressed as my chap is vision impaired but he is able to work out phone types by touching and recognising features on the phones and was able to say accurately which ones he had been presented with. He picked out the ones he wanted and asked how much they wanted for them but they kindly let him take them for free. They also said they will keep some in storage for if we visits in future as he said it was lovely to meet another phone collector.
