Screen replacement

The SE 1st gen has a 4 inch screen in the old iPhone 5s body. The SE 2nd gen has a 4.7 inch screen in the iPhone 8 body. These are completely different display assemblies and they are not interchangeable. We carry parts for both models and test every replacement for touch response, colour accuracy, and (on the 2nd gen) True Tone and Haptic Touch.

Battery replacement

The SE 1st gen has a 1624 mAh battery. The SE 2nd gen has a slightly larger 1821 mAh cell. Neither was generous when new, and after years of use both will struggle to last half a day. We fit a fresh battery, test it under load, and check the charging circuit before handing it back.

Charging port repair

Both SE models use Lightning, but the internal flex cable layout is different. On the 1st gen, the dock assembly includes the headphone jack. The 2nd gen has no headphone jack, so the dock assembly connects to the Taptic Engine and barometric vent instead. We replace the correct part for your model and test charging, data sync, and microphone function.

Camera Repair

Both models have a 12MP rear camera capable of 4K video, but the 2nd gen adds optical image stabilisation, Portrait mode, and Smart HDR. The front camera jumped from 1.2MP on the 1st gen to 7MP on the 2nd gen. We replace the faulty module and test autofocus, stabilisation (2nd gen), and video recording before you leave.

Software troubleshooting

The SE 1st gen runs iOS 15 and the 2nd gen runs the latest iOS 26. If either model is frozen, stuck in a boot loop, running slowly, or showing storage errors, we can diagnose and fix the issue while you wait. We also help with iCloud lock and data recovery where possible.

Network unlocking

If your iPhone SE is locked to a specific carrier, we can unlock it so you can use any SIM card from any network. This applies to both the 1st and 2nd generation models. Useful if you have switched providers, bought a second hand phone that is still locked, or need a local SIM abroad.

Is It Worth Repairing an iPhone SE?

 

That depends entirely on which generation you have.

SE 1st gen (2016): This phone is in a similar position to the iPhone 6s. It runs iOS 15, which Apple still patches with security updates (most recently iOS 15.8.8 in May 2026). Core apps like WhatsApp, YouTube, and Spotify still work. Some banking and social apps have dropped iOS 15 support, so check the specific apps you need. For calls, messages, browsing, and as a compact backup phone, a battery or screen repair is still worth it. The 4 inch screen is small by today’s standards, but some people prefer that size.

SE 2nd gen (2020): Absolutely worth repairing. The A13 Bionic chip still handles everything smoothly, it runs the latest iOS 26, and Apple will likely support it for at least another year. This phone has years of useful life left in it. A battery or screen replacement is a straightforward investment.

How Long Does an iPhone SE Repair Take?

 

Most iPhone SE repairs on either generation are done in about 20 to 30 minutes. The smaller 4 inch screen on the 1st gen is actually quicker to replace than the 4.7 inch 2nd gen screen.

Battery swaps are the fastest repair on both models. The SE 2nd gen has IP67 water resistance seals that we need to remove and replace during a screen or battery repair, which adds a few extra minutes.

Board level repairs on the SE 2nd gen (such as the known touch and restart issue) take longer. Allow 1 to 2 hours for any repair that involves work on the logic board.

You can wait in store or drop it off and collect it later. All 14 stores are open Monday to Saturday 9am to 6pm and Sunday 10am to 5pm.

How do I know which iPhone SE I have?
The easiest way is by size and shape. The SE 1st gen (2016) is small with flat edges, like an iPhone 5s. The SE 2nd gen (2020) is larger with rounded edges, like an iPhone 8. If you are still unsure, check Settings, then General, then About, and look at the Model Name.
About 20 to 30 minutes for both models. The SE 2nd gen takes a few minutes longer because we need to replace the water resistance seal around the screen.
For light use, yes. It runs iOS 15 (still receiving security patches), handles calls, messages, and basic apps well, and the compact size is hard to find in a modern phone. A battery or screen repair costs far less than any replacement.
This is a known board level defect. Three signal traces under the SIM tray can crack, causing the phone to restart in a loop. A screen replacement or factory reset will not fix it. The repair involves bridging the broken traces on the logic board. Bring it in and we will confirm whether this is the cause.
Screen replacements come with up to a lifetime warranty on genuine screens, 12 months on OLED, and 3 months on LCD. Battery and small parts carry a 12 month warranty. Claims must be made at the same store where the repair was done.
