Screen replacement

After years of daily use, the original battery will not keep up with the OLED display and Face ID sensors that draw power constantly. We replace the cell, test it under load, verify that wireless charging works, and reseal the display. If your phone dies unexpectedly or the battery health reading is below 80%, this is the fix.

Battery replacement

The iPhone 8 Plus has a 2691 mAh battery. That was smaller than the 2900 mAh cell in the iPhone 7 Plus because the glass back, wireless charging coil, and updated internals left less room. After years of daily charging, capacity drops noticeably. We fit a fresh cell, test it under load, verify that wireless charging still works, and reseal the display adhesive.

Face ID Repair

The TrueDepth camera at the top of the screen handles Face ID, Animoji, and the front facing camera. If Face ID stops recognising you, works intermittently, or shows an error in Settings, the dot projector or flood illuminator inside the notch may have failed. We diagnose the exact component and repair or replace it. Face ID components are partly paired to the logic board, so we preserve the original parts wherever possible.

Camera Repair

The dual 12MP rear camera has a wide angle lens with OIS and a telephoto lens for 2x optical zoom and Portrait Mode with Portrait Lighting. The front TrueDepth camera handles both selfies and Face ID. We replace whichever module has failed and test autofocus, zoom, Portrait Mode, and Face ID after fitting.

Back Glass Repair

Glass front and back means both sides can crack from a single drop. We remove the bonded rear glass, check the wireless charging coil underneath, fit new glass, and test Qi charging. The stainless steel frame on the iPhone X is tougher than the aluminium on the iPhone 8, so frame damage alongside a cracked back is less common.

Charging Port Repair

The Lightning dock assembly includes the primary microphone and Taptic Engine connector. If wired charging is unreliable, data sync fails, or callers cannot hear you, we replace this part and test everything before handing back.

Is It Worth Repairing an iPhone X in 2026?

The iPhone X runs iOS 16.7.16, the same final version as the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. Apple issued its last security patch for this version in May 2026. Most mainstream apps still support iOS 16, including WhatsApp, YouTube, Spotify, and Safari. Some apps have started requiring iOS 17, so check the ones you depend on.

The OLED screen still looks better than the LCD on any iPhone before it. Face ID still works well for unlocking and Apple Pay. The stainless steel frame holds up better over time than the aluminium on cheaper models. If your phone is physically in good shape and your apps still work, a battery or screen repair extends its life for a fraction of what a new phone costs.

Apple classified the iPhone X as Vintage in 2023. Apple Stores no longer repair it. We still do, at all 14 stores.

How Long Does an iPhone X Repair Take?

Most iPhone X repairs are done in 30 to 45 minutes. Battery swaps are the quickest.

OLED screen replacements take around 30 to 40 minutes. The display is thinner and more delicate than LCD panels, so fitting and testing requires a bit more care. We test for dead pixels, colour accuracy, touch response, and 3D Touch before sealing the phone back up.

Face ID repairs can take longer depending on which component has failed. If it is the dot projector or flood illuminator, the work is done on the TrueDepth module in the notch area. Allow 45 minutes to an hour.

Back glass repairs follow the same process as the iPhone 8 but with a stainless steel frame instead of aluminium. Allow 45 minutes to an hour.

You can wait in store or drop it off and collect later. All 14 stores are open Monday to Saturday 9am to 6pm and Sunday 10am to 5pm.

Took my phone here around 2 in the afternoon, the screen was smashed and it was completely unusable. Picked it up again at 2.45, fully repaired, guy couldn't be friendlier and showed me why my phone was so expensive to repair, (almost half the phone needed changing, thanks samsung for your well designed part). And although the price was expensive it was still very reasonable compared to elsewhere. Will definitely go to this shop again if i need my phone fixing again and will be recommending to everyone

I had an unfortunate accident, I dropped my iPhone and cracked the screen. I immediately worried about the cost of a repair. I rang several phone shops who wanted £100 for a repair. I then found The Phone Village on Scunthorpe High Street the me £50. I took my phone in and the guys were great I was told it would take 30 mins. On my return the repair had been expertly done. They fitted a free screen protector and case ( yes free of charge). Absolutely fantastic service. I would recommend them to anyone in my situation.

Today I went into Phone village for the first time with a chap I support who is a technology enthusiast and collector. We were greeted by two kind workers and my chap explained he likes to collect old phones and technology which don't necessarily need to be working he just likes to collect and compare them with modern devices. The workers listened closely and attentively and went and got a load of phones for him to look through. They were really impressed as my chap is vision impaired but he is able to work out phone types by touching and recognising features on the phones and was able to say accurately which ones he had been presented with. He picked out the ones he wanted and asked how much they wanted for them but they kindly let him take them for free. They also said they will keep some in storage for if we visits in future as he said it was lovely to meet another phone collector. The workers were kind and polite through out amazing customer service shown highly recommend them for a new phone or service. Thank you Phone village 😊❤️
